Bio fireplaces with scenes of Slavonic traditions

Fireplaces are usually associated with home comfort. In the modern world they are replaced by bio fireplaces as more practical interior elements, but the effect of comfort and domestic atmosphere doesn't vanish.

The traditions of our nation unite us into a one big family, reminding us of our common home. That is why my project combines sculptured bio fireplaces with Slavonic traditions in the reinterpreted style of Gzhel.

OBJECTS

CAROLING

Caroling is an ancient custom of the Slavs, during which groups of carolers dressed up in costumes of animals and mystical creatures, led round dances and sang songs.

The final part of the ritual was a trip of carolers led by a goat man to the city, where they exchanged gifts with the residents. The mummers gave the house well-being for the whole year, and in return received a warm welcome and treats.

HARVESTING

The fireplace is dedicated to the Slavic tradition, which includes several stages of harvesting.

“Zazhinki” is a ritual consisting

in expelling flies and cockroaches from the house with the first compressed sheaf. Then there was a meal on the stubble strip, consisting

of eggs, bread and salt.

The last and final stage of the tradition was the roasting - rituals associated with the “dozhinochny” sheaf. The most striking ritual of roasting was "beard curling" - curling uncompressed ears.

TONSURE

This ceremony was held for young

men and marked the boy's transition into adulthood. The young man was dressed in a shirt, put on a stool and cut off his locks of hair. Then they were thrown into the fire to appease the gods. The end of the ceremony was marked by the playing of musicians on gusli.
